Masterclass weekend
What a fantastic weekend of masterclasses at Brighton's Jubilee Library. We had Beth Miller talking about managing pace, Roy Mcfarlane on boosting your creativity and students battled through Brighton Marathon chaos on Sunday to hear Laura Wilkinson do a deep dive on creating memorable characters.
Next weekend, we have two online masterclasses: Rosie Chard will talk about creating great settings and John McCullough will explore imagery, symbolism and metaphor in prose. There are spaces on both masterclasses and we accept writers from outside our programmes. Book here.
Our one-day masterclasses are a key part of the Creative Writing Programme and Life Writing Programme allowing our writers to explore a key element of writing practice over the course of a day while also meeting students from the other programmes. Each student receives two free masterclasses as part of their course fee and can choose from ten different topics a year.
If you’re interested in finding out more about the Creative Writing Programme, come along to one of our taster sessions in Brighton, Worthing, Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells or online. The Creative Writing Programme starts in October 2025 and enrolment is now open.
